Jumping Into Balloons
Colin Myles started his balloon business more than 20 years ago. At the time, he was running his family dairy processing operation but looking for a change. Colin and his wife Ray decided to open a party shop in some extra space they had on the farm. After taking a trip to a wholesaler in Glasgow, they opened the doors to Partytime just two weeks later.
Colin and Ray jumped right into the balloon industry by attending the Spring Fair in England and a symposium sponsored by Qualatex® in Amsterdam. Although they were a bit hesitant to attend a 3-day event about balloon inflation, the event completely changed their perspective and they knew immediately they could make a good living.
Over the years, Colin has been a delegate at many balloon events including the World Balloon Convention (WBC), the International Balloon Arts Convention (IBAC), Millennium Jam, and Twist & Shout. He enjoys attending these events because he always learns something he can apply to his business. Colin joined the Qualatex Balloon Network® in 1995, and earned his Certified Balloon Artist™ designation two years later.
